Growth Factor Injections (PRP)

*Subject to availability. The request is not binding. We will contact you to confirm the appointment.

Sportcat (Sports Medicine) is a collaborating center with BTI (BIOTECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE) in research and the use of protocols and kits to correctly perform, in compliance with all EU regulations, the obtaining and injection of PRP (PROTEIN GROWTH FACTORS).

“Growth factors,” or more precisely, autologous high molecular weight proteins, are another treatment we provide at Sportcat. In this case, we also go beyond standard applications, as we combine PRGF injections with ultrasound-guided percutaneous intratendinous stimulations, increasing efficacy and optimizing results. What does the process involve? It consists of injecting proteins into the area to be treated (tendinous or muscular lesions), previously obtained from the patient’s own blood. This type of treatment is not effective, as it is sometimes used, for osteochondritis, osteoarthritis… since these tissues do not regenerate once they have degenerated. Therefore, at Sportcat, even if the client requests it, we do not apply it in these cases, as we have much more effective and resolutive treatments. However, when combined with our techniques for tendinous or muscular pathologies, “growth factors” help and accelerate the healing process. They are particularly effective in chronic conditions such as shoulder tendinitis, elbow epicondylitis, fibrosis in muscular scars…, and also in more acute conditions, although the cost-benefit should be evaluated, as often our treatments alone are sufficient and combining them with PRGF injections is unnecessary.
