Physiological studies of sports performance
The sports medical assessments we perform at Sportcat are mainly distinguished by whether they are conducted with or without a gas analyzer.
In both assessments, we perform a complete anamnesis, physical examination, resting ECG, resting BP, spirometry at rest and forced, anthropometry using octopolar bioimpedance, and a monitored exercise test with 12 ECG and BP channels.
The exercise test can be conducted on a cycle ergometer or treadmill, depending on the sport-specific movement that best suits each athlete.
From there, depending on whether a gas analyzer is used or not, the results for VO₂max, anaerobic and aerobic thresholds will be actual (with gas analyzer) or estimated (without gas analyzer).
At the end of the test, lactate levels will be measured.
Additionally, if needed, we can carry out all kinds of personalized protocols and tests (Wingate, Daniels, etc.) to evaluate performance and progression.
In this regard, conducting an assessment at the beginning of the season will allow us to obtain values such as VO₂max, anaerobic threshold, post-exercise lactate, among others, which will enable us to create a training program integrating the goals for each season.
At Sportcat, if the athlete wishes, we can support and advise on the athlete’s objectives or intentions, integrating a sports medicine specialist, personal trainer, nutritionist, sports psychologist, working as a team and helping you achieve the best from each individual.
