Sports medical assessments
At Sportcat, we place great importance on sports medical assessments. We believe they are essential for practicing sport safely and healthily. Unfortunately, adequate medical supervision is often overlooked, which is critical to prevent and avoid conditions that could pose a risk to the athlete. A sports medical assessment should not be done solely to obtain the “fit” status on the federation card. It should include studies evaluated by professionals who will advise on the athlete’s physical condition and rule out most cardiac pathologies that could cause sudden death. At Sportcat, we offer various types of sports medical assessments, depending on each client’s needs and concerns. All of them serve to obtain fitness for federation cards.
Basic Test A
For children aged 7 to 14 years. Anamnesis, complete physical examination, height, weight, elasticity, body composition via octopolar bioimpedance, growth curve, 12-lead electrocardiogram, resting blood pressure.
Basic Test B
From 14 years old, except by express request for children under 14. Anamnesis, complete physical examination, height, weight, elasticity, body composition via octopolar bioimpedance, growth curve, 12-lead electrocardiogram, resting blood pressure. Submaximal stress test up to 85% of maximum heart rate according to age. It is performed on a cycle ergometer or treadmill, fully monitored with a 12-lead electrocardiogram and synchronized with blood pressure measurements during the effort.
Performance Test - Platinium
Anamnesis, complete physical examination, height, weight, elasticity, body composition via octopolar bioimpedance, growth curve, 12-lead electrocardiogram, resting blood pressure. Maximal stress test up to 100% of maximum heart rate, or until claudication during effort. The test is fully monitored with a 12-lead electrocardiogram and synchronized with blood pressure measurements during the effort. The test will be conducted on a treadmill or cycle ergometer, depending on the athlete’s sport-specific movement. With this test, in addition to being a health assessment, we calculate VO2max, anaerobic threshold, aerobic training zones, maximum workload, maximum blood pressure, and real maximum heart rate.
Performance Test - Gold
It is the most comprehensive of the standard tests we perform at Sportcat. With this test, we can objectively assess the athlete’s physical condition and, by comparing it with previous tests, obtain performance values that allow us to evaluate training progression. The Performance Test – Gold includes the Platinum test, but additionally, a resting spirometry will be performed, calculating the different lung volumes and reserves. Exercise spirometry will also be conducted to rule out obstructive or restrictive pulmonary conditions. Furthermore, a post-maximal effort lactate test will be carried out, which allows evaluation of lactate accumulation in the muscle after maximal effort. These values will help to assess the client’s physical condition much more accurately.
Sports Medicine Examination for Underwater Activities
To obtain this fitness certificate, it can be achieved through the Gold test or a basic review B + resting spirometry + exercise spirometry. This test is conducted by sports medicine specialists who have been trained and certified as diver examiners by the Hyperbaric Therapeutic Unit – CRIS.
