Sports psychology
Sports psychology focuses on the study of behavior and factors associated with performance in sport, such as high performance, skill development, initiation, leisure, and health.
What do we do?
The goal is to understand how different sports agents (coaches, referees, parents, and managers...) influence the athlete’s behavior, both in their sports and personal life.
Sports psychology is part of the athlete’s overall preparation, just like physical, technical, or tactical training. It helps improve productivity throughout the season or at specific moments by optimizing skills and anticipating potential obstacles that may limit performance.
Through this work, it is possible to predict the athlete’s functioning style and, if necessary, modify it to improve performance while preserving the well-being of the athlete or team.
Who is it for?
Each sport, athlete, or group of athletes has particular circumstances that must be studied to understand their psychological needs. This service is aimed at all agents involved in performance sport: elite and grassroots athletes and teams, coaches, athletes’ families, referees, and athletes recovering from injuries or deciding to retire. Work sessions are always tailored to the objectives and specific context of each case.
Where?
Work sessions can be conducted according to the needs of the athlete and the team. Individual or group sessions can take place at the Sportcat center, at the sports club facilities, on the court, on the field, or in other required spaces.
How?
Athlete psychological preparation involves the rigorous application of appropriate strategies to help them reach a specific mental state and perform behaviors that are relevant for performance.
It also involves manipulating psychological variables such as motivation, confidence, and focus, among others, to achieve the most suitable sports and personal performance at any given moment.
